6/5/11 Well the trip to our first homestead was painless.  We arrived around noon on June 2nd, 2011 and were greeted with open arms.  Thanks to our hosts for wonderful conversation, food, and lodging.  We couldn’t have found better hosts for our first experience.

Walking away from the impact of civilization is impossible in this day and age. Climate change, war, fossil fuel use , along with the skyrocketing growth in technology all contribute to our consumer industrial culture. Going off the grid is possible but the grasp of our culture is far reaching. It’s especially difficult when one doesn’t have the tools to survive without the net of a fossil fuel economy. We hope to challenge the common perception of infinite growth on a finite planet. As a couple we have decided to stop chasing a pay check and instead chase a different carrot.

If you would like to know more about our story you can read about it here on Guy McPherson’s Nature Bats Last Blog.
