7 Low Budget Film Making Tips to Help You Make Your First No Budget Film

If you are considering getting into the movie making business, it is crucial to understand that low budget film making is the best place to start. Even if you are considering Film College, consider making your own no budget film before you even begin. This article gives you 7 low budget film making tips to help you make your first no budget film.

Use A Camera You Already Have

There is no sense in buying a big fancy Hollywood type of camera. Many B movies have been shot on digital cameras. And the digital cameras today are pretty good. Even if you don’t own one, borrow one from a friend or relative.

Don’t Cast Actors, Cast Amateurs

Many times you can cast amateur actors for little to no cost. Don’t look for normal actors; look for people you already know that will fit the part. Your goal here is to learn low budget film making, so keep your movie budget super low. Don’t waste it on actors.

Don’t Shoot Complex Scenes

Keep your scenes simple. Don’t spread your actors into several rooms and try to bounce back and forth. Keep about 3-4 people in the same room, in the same shot. Don’t get any more complex than a close up shot occasionally.

Keep The Movements Simple

You are not making a Hollywood movie just yet, so don’t put any chasing or running scenes in the movie right now. Those are just too hard to film. Use the dialogue of the movie to advance the plot. Right now you really can’t use fancy images or movements the way high budget movies do.

Shoot At Ordinary Locations

The best places to shoot movies is at your home, parks, your vehicle and basically anywhere else you can shoot without paying a fee. Talk to your friends and see if they’ll let you shoot at their place. Maybe a relative of yours has a cool venue like a warehouse or something they’ll let you shoot at. Keep it simple for now.

There Is No Perfect Take

Don’t wait around for the perfect take or the perfect scene. Your actors are not being paid so they are not going to want to wait around for your to get the perfect shot. Take all the shots you need and edit later. Your goal here is to release a low budget movie, not a Hollywood production.

Good Is Good Enough

Remember, you are learning low budget film making before you even waste your time of film college or film schools, so good is good enough. Edit the film and roll it out the door for production. For instance, understanding the principles, sayings and teachings of Jesus, one needs to know the cultural and historical contexts of the time. His story is put in a special light when getting acquainted with his background, namely being a Jew who lived in Palestine under Roman occupation.

A great contribution to unraveling some of the mysteries of the Bible was brought through archeology. The scope of this discipline is related to the study of the remains of the human past (ancient artifacts, texts and bones) in order to obtain insight of passed historical periods. Archeology has been considered a “tool” of testing the truth of the things emitted in the Bible. Biblical archeology settles its interest in defining and delimiting “the territory” of the biblical events. Due to the fact that the contents of the Holy Book revolve around the life and history of Jewish people in the area of current Israel, the term “biblical archeology” is sometimes replaced by the archeology of the land of Israel. Still, some scientists consider both terms too restrictive seeing that many biblical events were placed in Egypt, Mesopotamia and other regions. As a consequence, they call themselves archeologists of the lands of the Bible or of the Near East.

Nevertheless, Palestine encompasses more or less the geographical area within which the majority of the biblical events took place. Derived form the word Philistine, which denominated the people who lived along the coast, Palestine refers to the region located at the crossroads between Egypt and other large ancient civilizations to the North and East (Phoenicians and Mesopotamians). The name was used until the formation of the modern state of Israel in 1948. This region was a source of dispute because of its qualities, which justified the paraphrase “the Promised Land”.

El Chupacabra Monster

El Chupacabra were first introduced to the world in the early 90s at Puerto Rico. Before that time we have not knew such creature and some say monster. We knew a lot about Bigfoot, Vampires, Aliens and many other monsters but the El Chupacabra was a new discovery in that time.

The thing that makes the El Chupacabra more interesting is that there were no reports that it hurt people but only cattle such as goats, cows and even chickens. If it doesn’t hurt the human kind is it still a scary and evil monster? Well I say yes, for example takes cockroaches – they can not hurt people but still we are afraid of them. People in South America also were afraid from the fact that if the Chupacabra kills cattle it can also kill them.

Many people reported strange encounters with the El Chupacabra monster. Some claim to see it, others claimed that they just heard it but still the most common foot print of this creature is to leave a blood trail of cattle behind it. Those horror images of hundred of dead cattle really scared the people in those country areas, but it also make the whole phenomena much real – because we have evidences clear picture and video tapes. When we examine the evidences we have to remember that there are lots of people who try to fake it just for fame and fortune. Most of the fake pictures are so blurry and obscure that you can not even figure out what you see – it can be everything.

Like every good monster story – whether it true or not there is a lot of folklore around it. This is where the true is mixed with fairytales. It is even worse than that fake monster evidences because they can really distracted our attention to things that are just not true. But above all if you will do your research you will come to one conclusion: the Chupacabra monster is real!

Do ghosts exist? Many TV shows purport to having caught them on camera – orbs, movements, temperature fluctuations, screaming TV presenters – all sorts of proof. Well I have had a couple of experiences, that I would like to share with you.

When I was with my ex, I lived in a house, which had been built on what was once a coal mine’s railway sidings. Strange things happened. It started with the front door opening on its own. A faulty catch on the door maybe? I checked it all, and still the door would open – and it happened at the same time every time. Classic signs I’m told. Then the TV and video would come on in the middle of the night, always at around 2am. We even gave him a name – Peter! Eventually it became a bit of a joke and Peter was frequently told to “Stop!” and whenever he was asked to stop, he did.

Peter’s best trick was the time that he turned the toilet water dark blue! Yes that’s right. No toilet blocks in the house, or the cistern, and then one night after I had used the toilet I flushed it and it filled with blue water! I couldn’t believe my eyes. There was no other explanation for it, we had to be living with a spirit and he wanted us to know he was there.

I had seen shadows and movements, but never anything concrete until one day alone in the house when I witnessed Peter take shape for a very brief moment. I had been alone for an hour or two, and went upstairs to find something from a spare room. My ex’s son had dress up clothes and as I walked past the open door to his room, the clothes were in the shape of a child – about 5 feet tall and of slender build. I stopped as I saw this and as I peeked around his door, the clothes were floating to the floor. Not only did I break into goose bumps, but I left the house for a short while to regain my nerves.

Moving onto more recent times, just after I met my wife and moved in with her, our daughter – then 3 – was having sleep problems. Often in the middle of the night, we would find her on the landing hunched down making a grunting noise. She would grunt if she was moody, or feeling unwell and to start with we were concerned. We eventually concluded that she was dreaming and sleep walking, then waking on the landing and scared to find herself not in bed was grunting as she was annoyed with herself.

This happened every night, and as it went on, it became a talking point with my wife and I trying to figure out what it was all about. We looked at her room – which was always cold, in the day, at night, summer, winter, always despite having the sun most days. As it went on the grunting turned into crying, which made us even more concerned, as this was now distressing our 3 year old. And one night, whilst cradling her in my arms to calm her, she decided to talk about what was upsetting her.

“Its the lady,” she stated, “She says horrible things to me”

Chilled, I figured she had been dreaming and this was her dream. I reassured her and put her back to bed.

“She’s over there,” she whispered pointing to the corner of her room. My skin crawled!

I left her, moderately upset but happy to go to sleep – she wasn’t scared to be in her room. As I climbed into bed, I told my wife the story and of how I checked over my shoulder as I walked back to our room, as my skin was crawling and I could feel somebodies eyes boring into my back – you know that feeling you get? We still put it down to a dream and our daughter’s imagination, not wanting to believe that her sleep was being disturbed by a ghost. The following day, our 3 year old was still talking about the old lady. We smiled, but I tried the trick I had used before and asked for it to stop. For the next 3 nights, our daughter slept soundly – weird.

The fourth night though, the same thing happened again. We got the same story, but this time our daughter told us that the old lady had used a rude word. Apparently she had called our child “a little bugger”. Again I said “Stop it please” and put her back to bed. The next morning, I quizzed our little girl about the old lady, and managed to get a description out of her. She told me that the lady was old, with grey hair, but had no legs! My wife and I both looked at each other chilled, and shuddered. This had gone on too long now for it just to be a dream or a story for attention, this was spooky. I must say though, talking about it and being believed and reassured really did settle our little girl down and she became more open about it and less distressed, almost happy that the old lady had picked her!

When my wife dropped our daughter at school that morning, she told the teacher (a local woman) that our daughter may not be attentive due to lack of sleep and relayed the story. We carried on, and the next day the teacher pulled my wife aside. She had been doing some investigations – sitting in the local pub chatting to several older locals – and she had found that our house had been built on the former site of a house of rest and mortuary. The new property was built, along with a bungalow, by a local couple. They lived in our house – a two story detatched building happily for a good number of years. The woman became disabled and wheelchair bound (explaining the lady without legs!) and they moved into the bungalow. The larger property was said to be the old ladies favourite!

On hearing this my wife and I suddenly realised that our daughter had been plagued by visitations from another plain. By this time we were already looking to move to another property, thankfully. Since we moved, we have had no problems with our children waking in the middle of the night, although the 3 year old (now 4) is still the one who has the liveliest dreams – she is frequently heard shouting out in her sleep, or crying and laughing in her sleep. There is a theory though, that the middle child of three is more sensitive to the spirit world. I wonder if this is true?

We had talked about getting the old house exorcised if the visitations continued, and recently discussed the fact that the grunting our daughter did was the result of some kind of possession, but that is too scary an idea to contemplate! Think we will leave it there for now! I do believe in ghosts, having had these experiences which cannot be explained in any other way, but until we die we shall never know the truth about what happens afterwards.

Ignore the shadows and the noises of the night, your imagination will run wild, your mind delight, who knows who’s watching in the night time gloom, are you really alone, lying in your room? Sleep well!!

Short History of Mothman Phenomena

First known reports are from 1926. Somewhere in south-eastern part of China, near the Xiaon – the second largest dam in whole country, first sightings were reported. Rumors begun to spread – people reported a huge black creature hovering above the dam. In the afternoon, 19th of January, 1926, the Xiaon Dam collapsed, sending over 40 billion gallons of water chasing unwitting farmers below. Entire villages were destroyed, over 15 thousands dead. Since that time the Man-Dragon is known as oracle of doom and symbol of destruction in China.

Some time earlier, a Russian newspaper Pravda wrote, that there were several encounters with strange creature, in which people where warned about the imminent crash of MD-82 aircraft, but these encounters are yet to be confirmed. No further sightings were reported – until one night of 1964.

The Ohio River Tragedy

A young woman with her father was driving down Route 2 along the Ohio River. They were heading toward the Chief Cornstal Hunting Grounds, West Virgina. Then, out of nowhere a man-like creature stepped onto the road in front of their car. Young woman along with her father saw a horrifying being – without head, and with illuminating red eyes on the torso of creature. Its skiing was grey, almost black, and creature was a lot larger than normal man. In a matter of seconds, the mysterious Mothman’s wings unfurled from back, and being disappear in the darkness…

Few months later in 1965, small village named Point Pleasant in West Virgina turned from peaceful safe-heaven into a center of horror. For 13 months people were reporting encounters with “angels” or “giant butterflies’. People were terrified not just by the monster itself, but also by journalists and television crews seeking the creature.

A conclusion of these events was tragic – on 15th of December, 1967, the 700 foot long Silver Bridge above the Ohio River collapsed during rush hour traffic – 46 died. Based on these events, a book were written, as well as movie was created. The Mothman once again prove to be the bad omen – or maybe a warning?

Those, who were saved

11 years have passed before new sightings reported. On 10th of September, 1978, at a coal mine in Freiburg, Germany, miners encountered a terrifying black creature blocking the entrance to the mine. They were forced to retreat – so they begun to clean area outside the mine just to keep themselves busy, hoping that creature will leave. Around 8 am, a ground shuddered with tremendous force of underground explosion. 21 people were saved from dead by mysterious monster. This creature is known as Freiburg Shrieker. But – workers who were “saved” that day had fallen into sanity, or committed a suicide, or died in very young age. So – should they die that day?

The power of atom

We need to move eight years into the future to find out new sightings – beginning in April of 1985, employees of Russian Nuclear Power Plan in Chernobyl, Ukraine, reported sightings of a huge, dark and headless creature with gigantic wings and glowing red eyes. Some of these people have encounter the creature in person, some have been having horrifying nightmares.

The real horror came with 26th of April, 1986. A massive explosion shake whole power plant – the core of the reactor begun to melt. Thirty people died in explosion, ten more due to radiation exposure – untold casualties over the next years. Workers who survived says they saw a black creature hovering above the burning core.

Conclusions

Since the tragedy of Chernobyl, there were no new sightings of the creature – the Mothman activity stopped – but who know when it will start again? Will it be another sign of a tragedy coming? More than that – does the events inFreiburg are proof that future can’t be changed, and those who have to die, will die no matters what? There are many questions, and so few answers…

UFO – Lights in the Sky

Several years ago, I had gone to a meeting in Aurora Indiana. The time was mid-summer, so the evenings were quite long and darkness didn’t come until after 9 PM. Little did I know an event was about to occur that would over time change my whole perspective of life and strengthen the values and beliefs I had been taught as a child.

This metamorphosis took several years during which time I questioned everything I had been taught and came to realize that although at one time I thought my parents and grandparents were pretty old fashioned, they were right about the values and principles they tried to instill in us children.

Leaving Aurora, I was traveling west towards Batesville Indiana when I happened to notice just above the horizon a strange formation of lights in the northwest sky. The lights, which I assumed to be stars formed a perfect triangle, with the point directed towards the earth. I’m not really a star gazer, however I do look upward towards the heavens occasionally and had never noticed this particular formation before, especially in this area of the sky, where normally very few celestial objects can be observed.

What I found interesting was the fact the “stars” formed a triangle and were extremely bright in the fading twilight. During the approximately forty-five minutes it took me to drive home the lights never moved. They never moved towards the western horizon which would be the normal path setting stars or planets would take. I was now becoming fascinated with the strange objects in the sky and continued to observe them. I began to think they might be a UFO, which to that point in time and to the best of my knowledge, I had never seen.

Arriving home, I hurriedly changed into comfortable clothing and walked out to the back patio so I could see if they were still there. They were in the same formation they had been in for over an hour. Lying face up on our picnic table I watched them for probably another 15 minutes, suddenly as if on cue, the bottom “star” began to move off to the southwest, picking up speed as it did. It never went extremely fast, however it continued on it’s chosen path until it passed from sight. The other two objects,(stars,planets,UFO,whatever,) continued in their present position until I tired of watching and went inside for the evening.

The next evening, the sky seemed to be normal again, with only one bright object in view. I never did find out for certain what I saw that evening, however after doing much research into the matter, I am convinced what I saw that summer evening was my first conscious UFO sighting.

With the advent of YouTube came imitators, which have flooded the internet with millions of user created videos including home captures of paranormal events and odd occurrences. Unfortunately, many of these videos are hoax, fake, or of such poor quality it’s hard to tell whether your looking at a ghost or a oddly cracked window. To combat the tireless search for some real ghost footage, try checking out these places for higher quality user submissions.

Ghost Hunter / Ghost Tour Websites – Find local ghost hunting or ghost tour websites and your bound to find a multimedia gallery with pictures, videos, and audio recordings of ghosts and entities. Orbs, ribbons, and apparitions are usually found with a quick search on Google. I’ve personally been on a few ghost tours in St. Augustine and have found many of their websites to have photo galleries of all the paranormal events that happen during their daily tours. Some of these pictures will scare you!

Above Top Secret – The forums on the ATS website feature a category devoted to the paranormal which have mature users debating the authenticity of ghost videos, pictures, events, or personal stories that members share. Many of the videos presented are shown to be hoax through Adobe Photoshop editing, creative camera angles, or tricks to fool the viewer.

Dailymotion – A website similar in style to YouTube, Dailymotion brings a variety of ghost and paranormal related videos to you. Do a search for scary ghost footage or amazing ghost videos and wade through the mountain of results. Going through these videos at night can sure get you jumpy, especially if your home alone.

YouTube – We can’t leave out YouTube, it’s the number one website for user generated content. Among this content is some excellent ghost footage, hauntings, true ghost stories and more. The problem with most of these sites is wading through the obvious fakes to find the authentic stuff. Often times you find the better video by looking at the amount of visitors the video has received.

Regardless of your choice, any of these websites will produce some seriously scary ghost footage that will either scare you, intrigue you, or perhaps implore you to engage in some healthy debate. Either way it’s a fun way to pass some spare time, and maybe open your eyes to something new.

I was walking around the foundations of the old hotel near Docspond. You now the ones the Piney’s burned down in the late sixties. Ah you know the one, I seen you in the woods hiding when it was on flames with your ax in hand and the helmet you fought to keep slipping over your eyes. But that is years ago and neither hear nor there. But You want to know a bigger secret I found out than the local fire company burning out the nudist in town. MIB.

Yes that is right, MIB. Yep. I found one of those mind eraser thingies. You might think I am a bit nuts, but I found one for sure. Marked “Property of the United States Government”. All right it is a bit rusty and one end is missing, but the piece that slides up and out of the shaft is still intact.

Now Officially, it was first cleared and settled as an Iron forge and site for bog mining in the 1800′s. They missed the glory days when the bogs provided devil’s pills for the Revolutionary War, but no less viable. The hotel originally stood to house the employees in this industrial town. Three plots up some industrious young man even grew produce to feed these men of the forge. Up to 1944, being abandoned for years, up to that point, Misses Jeanie Epolito was forced to sell when the county foreclosed on all of Manchester Land Companies properties for tax evasion. This is when Mr Giovanni Enea, a doctor of sorts, owner of United Spring down the road snatched up that property for a nudist colony. To ride on his success of selling mineral water to NYC, why not have a spa that not only can you drink the water but bathe in it. Adding many years to your life.

Now you might not of liked Mr Enea, or the Doc as he was called, but you have to admit there was something of fortiture and propensity, if not fortunsity! Being a Doctor and genealogist in Biotech. Did he grow some monster Blueberries with Mrs. White of Whitesbog, the first woman or man to cultivate blueberries. She even made those little plastic baskets that all fruit comes in nowadays. I still eat them from the orchard and they are so juicy! But there was more to this Sicilian Doctor…

When I first moved to this house kitty corner from the colony, I used to see this strange star. It sat low in the sky. To high for a street light that sat on a small hill through the woods. But too low to be any star. Yes Fort Dix was shooting flares, but these were yellow and zig zaggged and fell within fifteen minutes. No this stood in the sky motionless for the whole night, right after sunset. I seen this star ever summer for four years. Then one summer it was gone.

I thought not much of it over the next five years, until! My parents went away when I was in High School and I had invited friends over for a party. Being a bit concerned, rough crowd, We sat outside on the porch. One named Shambo pointed up and looked us all in the eye in turn and spoke “Have you ever heard of the alien they shot trying to escape over a fence at Fort Dix!” I thought he was full of shit. “They captured his ship and they were examining him until one day he or it just had enough and excused himself. Well he made it to the fence alright, but not any farther.” I learned long time ago from Pugsley, or Peanut on the account he was the first to get caught shoplifting peanuts or anything else for that matter at the new food store, to listen to tall tales and not interrupt them with questions of validity as long as money and transportation was not part of it. So I listened, although non believing to Shambo until…

” Yep, they shot that alien five years ago!”

Five years ago? No it can not be. Has it been that long! Summer of 73, yes it has been. These are things that went through my mind at the time.

Now the window facing the north west from my room. It is a bit strange.. See now to the south west corner of it, is where I seen the star. We know now what happened to that. Below it is where the doctor got burned out. But to the north corner, that is where the tower stands that was suppose to connect to the Hindenburg. But we all know what happened before it could do that. The window of destruction.

Now back to yesterday. I found that MIB mind eraser thingie all right. I did some research on topographical and aerial maps. They were field inspected. Not only were they field inspected, but the 1947 aerial map is top secret. 1947 Roswell sighting and all. The USGS office does not even have access to it. Have you ever heard of Whiting, NJ ? So why should the army?

When I was little walking the swamps behind Docspond, I found PVC piping coming from the center of the swamp. Ventilation? A young five year old mind goes towards underground silos. Could there be men sneaking out here in the middle of the night with lunch boxes going to work; “Hey Joe” :Good Night Frank.”; in the swamp. We do have a known silo just three miles away. It has been closed since June 7, 1960. A BOMARC missile at McGuire Air Force Base, [near Trenton,] New Jersey in ready storage condition (permitting launch in two minutes) was destroyed by explosion and fire after a high pressure helium tank exploded and ruptured the missile’s fuel tanks. The warhead was also destroyed by the fire although the high explosive did not detonate. Nuclear safety devices acted as designed. Contamination was restricted to an area immediately beneath the weapon and an adjacent elongated area approximately 100 feet long, caused by drain-off of the firefighting water. Well the next town up in Toms River has Radionuclide or something in the water, but not to worry.

The New York Times reported the 47-foot missile “melted under an intense blaze fed by its 100-pound detonator TNT…THe atomic warhead apparently dropped into the molten mass that was left of the missile, which burned for forty-five minutes.” The radiation “had been caused when thoriated magnesium metal which forms part of the weapon, caught fire,… the metal, already radioactive, becomes highly radioactive when it is burned.”

I think the aliens did this on purpose. To mark the spot. You know as a sign post seen from the stars. A beacon. Was the Doctor’s nudists Earthlings, or not. Was Giovanni Enea more than a recent alien from Sicily, or was he from the stars. They might say that New Yorkers might be out of this world, but was he selling his mineral water to Mars? As all scientist know, there is no water on Mars. So who else would need it more than them?

I do not know how in 1947, three years after Nature’s Rest Nudist Colony opened, how they came to come across these aliens. MIB, how did they find out. Was it spied during normal aerial photographing that they seen something strange. Up Devil’s mountain from the colony in the woods sits a circle of trees blown over like Dominoes. In the Periphery for a sixteenth of a mile in thick brush, trees have been felled. Now was this there landing spot?

But what brings them here in and around 1940′s. Well in 1938 the Hindenburg was the first internationally transmitted news disaster in the world. Now those waves bounce in space forever. Did they listen to it. Did it take them six years to hear it and travel here? In that report it was heard, ” In the resort town of Lakehurst a boro of Manchester outside of Whiting at ..”. Maybe all they cared about was the mention of a resort town. Could this be all that was needed. Did some cosmic Lief Erickson sell some aliens on traveling to Whiting NJ? Did scouting parties report back about United Spring Co that got water from one of North America’s largest aquifers, the Cohansey-Kirkwood aquifer. 17 Trillion tons alone in the Cohansey. Where else would you go if you were from Mars and you needed water? Have you ever heard of Whiting?

So Doc Enea was not only hated for his car with the Black devil of a hick Hood ornament thumbing his nose at you, or his optional clothing style, his intellectual snobbery, or his dangerous choice of fauna for nudists ( Honey Locust and Holly trees), but was hated for allowing in illegal aliens.

That explains all the military transports flying low, real low, over the site all hours of the day. You Know!
