Estiuka Ltd has released an update for Ringooz, a smart reminder application on Android.

[MobilePRwire] – Estiuka Ltd has released an update for Ringooz, a smart reminder application on Android.

Version 1.1, released on the 21th of May, brings some UI improvements for creating and editing a reminder and some additional bug fixes.

“We have received some user feedbacks about the difficulty to add or edit a Ringoo’s option, so we have extended the clickable area to address this issue”, said Jonathan Akuitse, founder and lead developer at Estiuka Ltd.

Ringooz still allows you to create reminders by selecting a notification and some options. Currently there are two types of notifications:
* By date, the notification goes off at the date defined.
* By location, the notification goes off when the user is near a location.
* The notifications can be repeated and combined (date and/or location)
For the options, the user can record a voice message, enter a text note or select one or more actions. The actions available include: making a call, sending a text/email, launching the camera, the browser or one of the phone applications.

Ringooz is available on the Google Play Store for free. It requires devices to run Android 2.2 or later.

Ringooz is developed by Estiuka Ltd, an Android development company founded in 2011.

Estiuka Limited,
At Estiuka, we develop mobile applications on Android and we offer Android consultancy services. However the long term plan is to mainly focus on app development

Samsung plans to launch 65-, 55-inch 4K TVs in June.

When Samsung unveiled its first 4K Ultra HD TV at CES this year, it said other sizes would follow, both larger and smaller than the initial 85-inch version. Now it’s apparently ready to fulfill part of that promise, announcing in Korea that 65- and 55-inch models will launch next month. Of course our next question is how these smaller models will compare to the $39,999 MSRP 85S9 UHD TV in price. Hopefully they’ll follow the path blazed by Sony, which recently introduced models at that size with pricing well below the $10,000 benchmark, although we expect Seiki’s 50-incher will still hold the crown for value pricing. The press release mentions they will feature Samsung’s upgradeable Smart TV platform and the “micro dimming ultimate” LED lighting of their larger cousin, but the odd “Timeless Gallery” frame / stand (pictured above on the 85-incher) was not listed.

[MobilePRwire] – FitGuide creates personal eating and training regimens by mathematically calculating the optimal nutrition and physical activity for your body. Body metrics, goal and time for training are the data which the application requires.

Starting today, everybody who has an android smartphone can install FitGuide – an app which purpose is to create workout and nutrition regimens designed personally for every user. The process is straightforward. The user goes through four simple steps. On every step he/she enters information. This information is used by FitGuide to create a healthy personal fitness plan.

The application does not suggest specific exercises or exact meals. It provides people with crucial and fundamental information they need in order to achieve their fitness goals. The application calculates number of days for weight training per week, number days for cardio training per week, daily caloric intake and more. There are also tables with nutritional values of foods divided by categories.

The core of the application is a mathematical algorithm, which takes into account all specific variables of a person like gender, physical activity, fitness goal, time for training and body fat percentage. The algorithm is written and tested based on proven scientific methods. Best practices from fitness books and personal trainers are also a part of the mixture.

FitGuide is available on google play for €0.99 in Europe and is priced accordingly in other regions. In the US the price is $0.99.

We are two independent developers. We were able to realize our great idea about a fitness application called FitGuide.

It refers to the practice of using multiple forms of media, which may or may not include animation, simultaneously, within a given product or project. Multimedia products will often combine text, still images, video, film, animation and sound within one package.

Multimedia products are often interactive in nature and can only generally be created on, and accessed by, a computing device.

Multimedia now encompasses a vast array of products, projects and services. Familiar examples are the Computer Based Training courses (CBT”s) used in education or the typical instructional CD-ROMs so often favored by the learner driver.

The CV of an artist for example, containing, a headshot, biography and a portfolio of work, which is then burned to, and delivered on CD-rom, would also be considered multimedia in nature and multimedia is very often used in the corporate setting in the form of presentations.

Even the video gaming enthusiast is not immune to the onslaught of the multimedia revolution as he or she battles within the evermore complex multi-player gaming arena known as MMORPGs.

One of the most important features of the multimedia product or service is that it is more often than not, interactive in nature. The learner driver training CD mentioned previously would be a prime example as it would require the user to engage with the content throughout.

This type of educational platform also serves as a classic example of the non-linear forms of multimedia which requires interaction and input from the user over the control and delivery of the content. Multimedia in its linear form – a simple example being Cinema – offers little or no scope for such interaction or control.

The use of the term multimedia has changed over the years and it was only during the 90′s that it acquired its current meaning. Multimedia can be live or pre-recorded and with the advent of computer tablets, smart phones, advanced gaming platforms and the like, multimedia is now an all pervasive force.

Animation on the other hand is a ‘specific cinematic medium’ which often utilizes hundreds, sometimes thousands of still images. These images are combined in sequence over a specific time period (cinematically speaking) usually 24, 25, or 30 frames per second. When these images, which will all vary slightly from one another, are recorded and replayed in rapid succession, they create the illusion of movement.

Animations can be 2D or 3D. Can be hand drawn or computer generated. Involve clay models, puppets, shadows or cut-outs. Some animation may involve all these elements and more. Good cinematic examples of 3D animations are Toy Story, Shrek, The Incredibles and The Croods.

3D animation is a very complex area with a terminology that is uniquely its own. Essentially 3D animation starts with the creation or modelling of a 3D mesh of the object or character to be created. The mesh can then be refined by the modeller before being rigged and programmed for movement. 3D animation does require some basic drawing skills at least, is very technical, and relies heavily on the use of 3D textures and lighting.

Traditional 2D animation on the other hand involved the processing of thousands of individual images copied from original paper drawings onto transparent acetates known as Cels. Each Cel was then carefully coloured and set against a painted background before being photographed one by one with the aid of a rostrum camera.

This method of film-making bought us classics such as Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs, 101 Dalmatians and the Lady and the Tramp.

Stopmotion animation is similar to the above the only difference being that a physical object such as a doll or puppet will appear to move on its own when it is manipulated bit by bit between photographed frames.

Nowadays the process of animation is much less cumbersome as much animation is created and edited on computers using vector or bitmap images with sophisticated software used for coloring and camera movement.

Game: Simpsons Tapped Out

Platform: iOS, Android

Developer: EA Mobile

Release Date: 3/1/12 for iOS and 2/6/13 for Android.

Do you like SimCity type games and love the Simpsons? Well if you do, then this game is right for you. In the Simpsons Tapped Out you get to rebuild your own Springfield from the ground up after a nuclear meltdown at the plant destroys the old town. As you progress levels in the game you unlock more buildings with their respected character, i.e. Kwik-E-Mart with Apu. Most of the regular buildings cost in-game money that you receive from “Income Tax” from already owned buildings or character jobs. For the games premium content you spend donuts. Donuts can be earned from gaining levels, special tricks, continuous player rewards, or bought with real money from the game store. Most of the characters in the game come complete with the TV actor providing the voice. Another fun aspect that EA has added to the game are special events that tie in with the Holidays or special episodes. EA has also tied this to its Origin system, which acts as a Social Network to connect you with your friends Springfield. The best part about this is that no matter which platform you run, you can still connect with your buddies.

The Good: addicting sim quality gameplay, ability to connect with friends on another OS, continuous content updates, free to download.

The Bad: can be buggy at times, donuts hard to come buy without paying real money.

Rating – 4/5

By Sonia Clarke

There is almost no such thing as an easy animation software when you’re serious about the subject. Animation is an extremely complex area with an often mind-boggling array of terminology and any animation package worth its weight will almost certainly require a steep learn curve. Whatever package you choose, be it 2D or 3D, do ensure it comes with plenty of tutorials, tips and advice.

This brief line-up, in no particular order of preference, is aimed at the hobbyist, enthusiast and those new to the field. Hopefully there should be something to suit all tastes and pockets. The compilation is not exhaustive, excluding some of the more expensive heavyweights such as Maya, Lightwave and 3D Studio Max; but many of the products listed are free or moderately priced, have good reputations, and are all designed to inspire creativity.

ANMIE STUDIO PRO (2D) create cartoons, anmie and cut-out animations with ease. Add skeletons with the click of a mouse. Import photoshop files with layers intact and build characters from scratch with character wizard. Anmie Studio has excellent lip syncing capabilities, generous multi-sound formats along with full support for YouTube.

Other popular animation programs with strong YouTube support include, GO ANIMATE (2D), XTRA-NORMAL (3D) and MUVIZU(3D). All three programs allow you to create animations without the need for expensive equipment or specialist training and Muvizu, which is free, provides high-quality sets complete with complex character animation and the facility to collaborate on productions.

MOVIESTORM, an innovative 3D software program is aimed at amateur film makers wishing to making high quality animated movies and provides the perfect tool with which to learn about film and TV production. Other 3D software packages also popular with artists and filmmakers are DAZ STUDIO (3D) and ICLONE 5 (3D). Iclone 5 is a real-time 3D animation tool with digital actors, visual effects and Microsoft Kinect-ready motion capture whilst Daz Studio, allows you to create stunning digital artwork and animations and is currently free.

For good lighting and camera effects try SYNFIG (2D). The ambition of Synfig developers was to create an animation software capable of producing film quality output. Synfig is an open source vector based animation program and is free.

Now if you can, checkout the cartoon strip “Big Buck Bunny” and the film short “Elephants Dream” to see why BLENDER (3D) is a legend in the world of 3D animation software. Software to rival the big boys, available free with a huge fan-base and plenty of tutorials and support.

For the more adventurous amongst you CRAZYTALK (2D/3D) is a photo to animation engine where you can turn photos, sketches, statues, anything into animatable characters. Media can be inserted directly into the scene and the program supports a variety of formats. Similarly Morpheus (2D/3D) animation software will transform your photos into other things such as cartoons or animals. Blend, mix and exaggerate body parts. Watch a person turn into someone – or something else.

Remember king Kong and the empire state building? Well if you’re into STOP-MOTION photography then IstopMotion (3D) for Macintosh is worth considering. With IstopMotion you can work with your Mac’s built in camera or import photos to build your animations. You can even turn your iPad, iPhone or iPod touch into a High Definition camera…

One free 2D animation package with drawing tools similar to Photoshop is PENCIL. Pencil allows for both vector and bitmap graphics and has proved an excellent introductory animation tool. With pencil you can create traditional hand drawn animations on most computer platforms including Mac OS.

Another 2D substitute for the traditional light table/and paper animation is PLASTIC ANIMATION PAPER (PAP) 4 which is currently free for download. Also currently free for download (but without technical support) is CREATOON 3 (2D) which utilizes the cut-out animation process.

Lastly a fine example of a solid 2D animation program, renowned for its depth and the quality of technical support is TOON BOOM STUDIO. An excellent application made for animators, by animators.

Good Luck!
